Leukaemia doesn't wait until you're older. Neither should blood testing.

What is Your Blood Counts?
Your Blood Counts is a campaign run with the intention of increasing blood cancer awareness in young people, so that everyone gets equal access to blood cancer testing.
We aim to educate medical professionals and create a change within the medical system. You can find more information below on the drop-down links.
-
Leukaemia cases are least common in 15-29 year olds compared to any other age range. However, to the diagnosed individual, statistics offer little comfort. While cancer rates are lower in this age range, that should never mean the possibility of leukaemia is overlooked. Blood testing remains an essential tool for early detection, because no young person should become a statistic simply because they developed a disease that they weren't expected to have.
-
Your Blood Counts has a clear and straightforward mission: to increase the access and use of blood testing for young people, and to improve awareness of how blood cancer can present in otherwise healthy, young individuals.
Leukaemia won’t overlook you, so why should the medical system?
-
Young people with leukaemia are too often overlooked because the disease is considered unlikely at their age. Symptoms are frequently attributed to more common illnesses, delaying the blood tests that could lead to an earlier diagnosis. We believe this is a systemic issue, not an individual one. That's why we're working to improve awareness and education for healthcare professionals, so that age is never a reason to overlook the possibility of blood cancer.
Why We Exist
Your Blood Counts was founded after my partner was unexpectedly rushed into hospital, and diagnosed with leukaemia in the critical stage at the age of 21. Read about our story below.

What you can do
Your Blood Counts has a clear and direct mission - but we can’t do it without support.
We have set up a petition for more to increase the access and use of blood testing in young people with cancer symptoms, to aid in earlier intervention, and easier treatment. This can be found on our How You Can Help page.
We are also looking to raise awareness of our campaign. Whether that be sending this website to a friend, or a media team looking to hear about how we started fighting for this cause, Your Blood Counts needs all the publicity we can get.
Please share our mission statement, or get in contact with us through our How You Can Help page.
